Gauhati University B.Ed. Common Entrance Test (GUBEDCET-2019) for Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Course, 2019

Eligibility: (As per NCTE norms)

A candidate may be allowed to appear in the GUBEDCET-2019 provided that he/she has passed the B.A / B.Sc./ B.Com. or MA/ MSc/M.Com or equivalent degree programme form a recognised Board/University with at least 50% marks (or 45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD).

Preference selection by student (MUST be completed online): 23/07/19 to 24/07/19

[During preference selection a candidate can select all colleges according to their own choice. During admission a candidate cannot change the preference of the colleges. For example, if vacancy available in a college of higher choice is available then the candidate will not be allowed to take admission in a lower choice college. Therefore, it is advisable to prepare a list of colleges according to the choice of the candidate before finally submit to the University. Once submitted, candidate will not be allowed to modify the list.]

Syllabus and Marks break-up:

Section-A General English (Vocabulary, Tense, Voice, Narration, Prepositions, Correction of sentences, Comprehension) 120 marks
Section-B General Knowledge (Indian History, Indian Polity, General Science, Current affairs) 120 marks
Section-C Test of Reasoning and Numerical Ability 120 marks
Section-D Current Indian Education (Issues and Policies) National Policy on Education 1986, Universalization of Elementary Education – Right to Education, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Secondary Education – Rastriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) 40 marks

Test Centres:

Candidates will be able to appear in any one of the following GUBEDCET-2019 Centres and the same shall have to be indicated while filling up the online form. A candidate has to select any three examination centres. A candidate will be assigned in any one of the centre based on the feasibility of a particular centre.

Other Details of GUBEDCET-2019:

  1. All questions will be of MCQ type with four alternative choices of which only one answer will be the correct option.
  2. The test Booklet and the OMR will be in English. The test will be OMR based.
  3. There will be 4 marks for correct answer and (-1) for wrong answer. No negative marks for unanswered questions.
  4. Merit list will be prepared only on the basis of marks obtained in GUBEDCET-2019. In case of a tie, i.e. when two or more candidates obtain equal marks, inter-se merit of such candidates shall be decided as follows:
    • Resolution by finding the ratio of positive marks and negative marks. Candidate having higher absolute value of the ratio will be given better rank.
    • Resolution by marks obtained in Section-A. Candidate obtaining higher marks will be given better rank.
    • Resolution by marks obtained in Section-B. Candidate obtaining higher marks will be given better rank.
    • Resolution by marks obtained in Section-C. Candidate obtaining higher marks will be given better rank.
    • Resolution by marks obtained in Section-D. Candidate obtaining higher marks will be given better rank.
    • Resolution by number of unanswered questions in Section-A. Candidate with less number of unanswered questions will be given better rank.
    • Resolution by number of unanswered questions in Section-B. Candidate with less number of unanswered questions will be given better rank.
    • Resolution by number of unanswered questions in Section-C. Candidate with less number of unanswered questions will be given better rank.
    • Resolution by number of unanswered questions in Section-D. Candidate with less number of unanswered questions will be given better rank.
    • If the resolution is not possible after this criterion, candidates with higher age will be given better rank
  5. Eligibility criteria will be verified by the respective colleges before admission.
  6. Reservation and relaxation policy will be as per existing GU rules.
  7. Application and Entrance Examination Fee: Rs.1000.00 + Bank Transaction Charge.
  8. Anything not covered by this guideline will be decided by the university authority at appropriate level.
